A Digital Certificate is a secure digital key that certifies the identity of the holder. It is issued by a Certification Authority (CA), containing your identity (name, email, country, APNIC account name and your public key)
DSC uses Public Key Infrastructure, meaning data that has been digitally signed or encrypted by a private key, that can only be decrypted by its corresponding public key.
A Digital Signature Certificate is just like an electronic "credit card" that establishes your credentials when doing business or other transactions on the Web, (here online tendering or e-tendering or e-bidding).
USB Token can be password protected so that Digital Signature is never lost when computer is formatted or internet explorer is changed.
A virus cannot affect USB Token and the digital certificate stored would always be secure.
when you connect the USB Token with the computer system, it automatically copies the certificate to the System and when you remove the USB Token it automatically removes it from System. it is simply storing UN-signed cheque book in your vault.
It is secure device, having inbuilt Cryptographic Service Provider (CSP) and Cryptographic processor, used specifically to carry Digital Credentials of individuals and is primarily used for Two Factor authentication.
Without USB Token / E-Token you can not participate in E-bidding, E-tendering or Online Tenders.
